As the sun rose on Sunday morning, you could tell it was going to be an excellent day. Nice and cool, absolutely no wind, and drifters rolling in the gates. We met for the drivers meeting, and 50+ drivers got ready to hit the track. I was impressed at the amount of awesome mustaches that showed up, both real and fake, almost 90% of the attendees went along with the mustache theme!

It was a great collection of drivers, both young and old, and cars ranging from 1980’s Toyotas all the way up to brand new Nissans and BMW’s. We even had a few exotics! (well… exotic for drift cars) Blu808’s Turbo Corvette powered S14, WORKS’ RWD Evo 8, SV Performance’s VQ35 powered S13, and the F*D*C* Nissan SR20DET powered Corolla!

One of the most impressive things about this event was the level of stepping-up a lot of the newer people did. I saw people who only a few months ago were just learning how to link drifts back and forth on the skidpad, and now they’re out on the fulltrack swinging it with the big guys. They were all attempting and completing drifts that I would’ve been impressed to see an expert pull off.

After learning how to drift a car less than a year ago, Jason Bostrom is doing incredibly well. <BR>Here he is sliding the turn 14/15 complex in his KA powered S13″ width=”600″ height=”400″ /><p class=After learning how to drift a car less than a year ago, Jason Bostrom is doing incredibly well.

So in conclusion, a fantastic day of drifting/gripping was had by all! The paddock was left in a cleaner state than after most NASA/SCCA events, and the dirt-borders around the track weren’t too badly damaged either! Thank you to everyone who came and made this an excellent event. You behaved like respectable motorsports enthusiasts, and I assure you, the track big-wigs noticed. We did too. We couldn’t have done it without you, and we look forward to seeing you all at the next TD fulltrack!!!

Special thanks to Kip Kearney of Driven Authority, and Tomasz Olech of F*D*C for helping out with tire service! You helped the event a great deal, and we sincerely appreciate it.

Now… go back to the main page and check out the previous 3 posts on ThunderDrift.com! We got some great photo coverage by Mike Tseng, ABMotorsports.com, and SpeedZoku.com, and video coverage coming up from our good friends at Hero Productions!

PS – this is a good time to add:

We ran out of shirts at the track! we will be doing a re-run shortly, so if you’re interested in getting your very own Mustache-style fulltrack t-shirt, check the merch section and order yours now! Remember, we’ve got girl’s sizes too!
