Hot of the virtual presses, the latest issue of Works Magazine features an 11-page spread on ThunderDrift! It starts on page 40, but you should take some time to read the whole magazine, it’s full of great stuff!

The article features a cross-interview piece between TD Founder Geoff Pitts and up-and-coming drifter Ryan Kado. Ryan interviews Geoff about the origins of TD, and where the event stands today, and Geoff interviews Ryan about his illustrious career thus-far.

The weekend of May 22nd marks a turning-point in ThunderDrift’s history. For the very first time since the program’s inception in 2006, a skidpad drift event was held simultaneously with a large-scale Club Racing event. We knew before embarking on this endeavor that it would be crazy holding a skidpad event with hundreds of race-cars in the paddock but we decided to try anyway.

Thanks to everyone who came out to enjoy the beautiful spring weather!  We had a nice clean event with the off-track area as dry as it was, and we’re looking forward to some great events coming up in the warmer dry weather.

We’ve added a few new pages to td.com including a very special one dedicated to the pro-am competitors. The order of their profile pictures corresponds to their championship points position! How cool is that? Big thanks to our web guru for making that work. There are also new pages in the ABOUT section containing good information about the event and what to expect your first time drifting with TD.

In order to facilitate this expansion of the page, we’ve had to add some really swell features. The navigation bar at the top of the page is the first change we’ve made, it now had drop-down menus on some of the links. We have more updates planned, so check back soon!

In anticipation of some possible birthday fun at the ThunderDrift skidpad event this weekend, I dug up some old pictures of one of the many birthday celebrations we’ve incorporated into our skidpad events. This is a special one because it’s two at once, and they’re both from the same crew!

From its humble beginnings in 2006, ThunderDrift has grown and adapted, holding a wide range of events to suit the needs of as many drivers as possible. From traditional trackdays to 2009’s skidpad competition series, TD organizer Geoff Pitts has established Thunderhill as the place to come for drifting in Northern California.

Now it’s 2010, and the ThunderDrift 4-round competition series on the big track is a Formula DRIFT ProAm affiliate series, with 2011 pro licenses and invites to the 2010 ProAm finals at stake.
