Since 2006 ThunderDrift has been the primary provider of drifting events in Northern California. In 2010 TD held its inaugural Formula Drift Pro-Am series and awarded series champion Ryan Kado with a 2011 Formula Drift license. In addition TD sent two other drivers to ProAm Nationals, who both placed high enough to earn their spot in Formula Drift’s 2011 season.
This year TD has increased its number of competition rounds from 4 to 5, and added several new course layouts to take advantage of various sections of Thunderhill Raceway’s 3-mile 15-turn FIA-standard road course. Another change for 2011 is that TD will be awarding 4 Formula Drift licenses, which is sure to make the series an exciting one! Event layouts are similar to Formula Drift with drivers competing in bracket-style tandem elimination battles, and final series standings based on accumulated points over all five rounds.
